SPORTS FACILITIES BEING DEVELOPED ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF THE PLAYERS: GEHLOT

Bikaner: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that the State Government is taking many historic decisions to build a better future for the youth. “Indoor stadiums are being developed at the divisional level for the promotion of sports and players. More than 2000 Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools and 211 colleges have been opened to provide higher education to remote areas for the children of the state to get education in English medium,” Gehlot said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Indoor Sports Complex and Auditorium at Maharaja Ganga Singh University of Bikaner on Friday.

He said that the State Government is providing more opportunities to the youth by giving special priority to sports. “To provide international level training and basic facilities to the players, the government is working according to the spirit of the players. Out of turn government appointments have been given to 229 sportspersons of the state and the honor money for medal winners in sports like Olympics, Asiad and Commonwealth has also been increased manifold,” he said. The CM said that about 30 lakh sportspersons would participate in the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games. In this, the sports talents of the villages will get a big platform and they will get opportunities to make their future in the sports world. Gehlot said, “To provide employment to the youth, the state government has done more than one lakh recruitments so far. Apart from this, 1.25 lakh jobs have been given by the present government so far, Setting up of Ahimsa park in Maharaja Ganga Singh University would give a message to youth to connect with Bapu’s ideals.”

Education Minister Dr B D Kalla said that Soon an international level cycle velodrome would be ready in Bikaner. Higher Edu Min RS Yadav said that education is the basis of future of youth. The President of Rajasthan State Sports Council, Dr. Krishna Poonia said that the state government has increased the honorarium for medal winners in various sports including Olympics and Asiad. Gehlot inaugurated the new auditorium built in the university campus with a capacity of about 1000 spectators. He unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Ahinsa Park of the University. Gehlot also laid the foundation stone of the Multipurpose Indoor Hall to be built in the Dr. Karni Singh Stadium Complex at a cost of about Rs 7.50 cr, where players will be able to get facilities for various indoor sports training.
