Save Khejdi movement: Saints threaten suicide

Jodhpur: Intensifying the ‘save Khejdi’ movement in Jodhpur’s Phalodi, three saints of Bishnoi community have threatened to commit mass suicide if the demands are not met.

Kripacharya Banidham, Baldevanand Shastri Bhojasar and Raju Maharaj have given an ultimatum to the government to take action on the 9-point charter of demand by June 22. They threatened to self-immolate outside the ADM office if the demands are not fulfilled. The community members are agitating against cutting of trees for the construction of a solar plant.

A rally will be taken out on June 22 from Bishnoi dharmshala at Ratanada to collectorate circle demanding action against those who cut the trees. Meanwhile, a dharna outside the ADM office is continuing by the community people and environmentalists.
