Registration & stamp dept speeds up settlement of pending cases

Ajmer: The Registration and Stamp Department has started to speed up the settlement of cases of stamp duty pending for years. Action on about 1,700 files was pending. Notices are being issued by the enforcement branch of the department to recover and establish recovery from the defaulters.

Cases are also being registered in the Collector and Stamp Court, and crores of rupees have been recovered. The department has settled 1,100 out of 1,700 cases.

Piyush Samaria, Inspector General of Registration and Stamp Department, said that the department has started an amnesty scheme till July 31 to settle disputes regarding outstanding stamp duty and old recovery.

“The benefit of this scheme can also be availed in a case pending in the Collector (Stamp), Rajasthan Tax Board or any other court regarding the pending demand of outstanding stamp duty, interest and penalty,” Piyush Samaria said.
