R’bore’s T-2312 killed in territorial dispute, post-mortem confirms
Sawai Madhopur: A three-year-old male tiger was found dead on Sunday following a territorial battle in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, located in Sawai Madhopur. DCF Ramanand Bhaskar said that the forest guards discovered the tiger’s body in Khandar range, showing signs of injury.
“Preliminary evidence suggests that the tiger, T-2312, died during a territorial fight,” Bhaskar said. Ranthambore is currently facing a concerning situation due to the equal numbers of male and female tigers. The troubling sex ratio has resulted in the death of T-2312. During routine patrols in the Gaughati forest area near the Fariya naka of the Khandar range, the body of tiger was discovered.
Ranthambore’s Field Director Anoop KR and DCF Dr. Ramanand Bhakar along with other officials reached the spot and identification was done. The team secured the body and transported it to Rajbagh naka, where a medical board of veterinarians conducted postmortem, collected samples & carcass was cremated. The deceased tiger bore multiple deep wounds, confirming that the fatal injuries were sustained during a territorial dispute with another tiger.
