Police seize ganja worth Rs 1.83 cr; heroine worth Rs 1 cr in two cases

Bhilwara/Kota: Crime Branch has arrested five drug smugglers and seized ganja (cannabis) worth Rs 1.83 crore from their possession in Bhilwara on Sunday night.

The accused had smuggled ganja in two luxury cars from Odisha. ADG (Crime) Dinesh MN said that following a tip off, a team of Crime Branch intercepted the accused and caught them with high quality ganga.

The accused were identified as Sanjay Jat, Shiv Lal, Lokesh Jat, Rajendra Jat and Prem Chand Acharya. Both the cars had a total of 182 kilograms of cannabis. The ganja was to be supplied to different places from Bhilwara.

Meanwhile, in Kota, the police officials arrested two drug smugglers and recovered 938 grams of heroin estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore from them.

The accused were identified as Pushpendra Singh and Daya Kishan Sharma. They were smuggling heroin in a car which was stopped under Ramganjmandi.

During checking, the police team recovered heroin, SP Kota Rural Kavendra Singh Sagar said. The accused were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
