PM Housing Scheme: Villagers siphon off fund, FIR lodged

Barmer: Some villagers have siphoned off the fund of the PM housing scheme. Instead of constructing the houses sanctioned under the scheme these villagers have misused the allotted fund. Now the district administration has lodged FIR against such beneficiaries. Authorities also directed all the block officers in the district to identify such beneficiaries and take action against them. Initially an FIR has been lodged against 9 beneficiaries for siphoning off the PMAY fund at Sadar police station area in Barmer. Chief executive officer at Barmer Zila Priashad Omprakash Bishnoi had confirmed the report. He said that nine beneficiaries in Chawa gram panchayat had siphoned off the fund allotted under the PM housing scheme. He said that a fund was allotted to these beneficiaries for constructing a pucca house under a housing scheme but these beneficiaries have misused the fund. He said that initially local officials have requested such beneficiaries to utilize the fund as per directions but finally they have lodged FIR against those who have misused the funds. Officials said that 8 beneficiaries received 60-60 thousand rupees in two installments while one had received 15 thousand rupees in one installment. They said that instead of constructing houses, they have siphoned off the fund. It mentioned here that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana centre government is ensuring all possible efforts to ensure pucca houses to all households across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the much awaited PM Awas Yojana in June 2015 with an aim of constructing more than 2 cr houses.
