PM: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita frees democracy from colonial mindset

Jodhpur: During the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi criticised the long and often frustrating legal procedures of the past. He remarked, “Decades ago, the term ‘court chakkar’ became synonymous with the endless cycle of litigation. Today, effective measures are being taken to ease citizens’ suffering.” He highlighted significance of newly adopted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which replaces the Indian Penal Code. PM called for collective responsibility to simplify and make justice more transparent. “We have made historic strides, such as repealing outdated colonial laws & adopting Indian Judicial Code in place of Penal Code,” PM Modi said.
