PHED XEN, 2 others held with bribe of over Rs 3L in Bh’pur

Bharatpur: The Bharatpur unit of AntiCorruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, while working on source information, caught Dharmendra Kumar Deepak, Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department at Bayana, his driver Santosh Kataria and a broker Surjit Singh Jat, along with suspicious cash amount of Rs 3.68 lakh.

ACB Bharatpur unit had learnt from sources that recently the PHED had completed the work of Jal Jeevan Mission in Bayana and for the work, the contractors were paid Rs 8 crore. It was informed that the contractors would pay their commission on the amount on Tuesday.

On this information, verification of the information was done. After this, a sudden checking of a Swift Desire car, parked in the Bayana block PHED office, was done and the team recovered 2.05 lakh rupees from a bag in the trunk. Further search at the Executive Engineer’s house revealed one lakh rupees.
