Over 10,000 Khejri trees axed for solar plant in Bkn

Bikaner: The state tree Khejri is in danger in Bikaner. Local people have complained that Khejri trees are being cut to set up a solar plant. Recently, a matter of cutting of khejri trees also happened in Jaimalsar village. More than 10,000 Khejri trees were cut down within a radius of 12 km in Kavani village, about 45 km from Bikaner and in Jaimalsar village, 12 km ahead of it. In some places, the stump of Khejri was left, but in most places the trees have been uprooted.

Villagers Manak Das and Chhotu Das said that till three-four years ago, there were khejri trees all around but the trees have been cut at a fast pace. They claimed that some trees were lying on the spot and traces of big vehicles were also visible.
