OBC quota: Choudhary opens front against his own party

Barmer: After the meeting with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress leader and Punjab in-charge Harish Chaudhary on Monday opened up the front against his own party over the OBC reservation amendment issue. The bill was cleared during the previous Vasundhara Raje led BJP government in 2018. Chaudhary is miffed with his own party over some discrepancies in the OBC reservation amendment bill. He blamed that there are several discrepancies in the roster for the recruitments prepared by the personnel department.

After meeting with the representatives of OBC community at Barmer district headquarter, Chaudhary addressed the reporters and announced that if the demands are not met he will take his movement a step ahead in democratic manner. He also demanded for the caste census. He said, “I met Chief Minister twice on OBC reservation issue and demanded to sort it out at the earliest.” Chaudhary said that the CM assured him of the quick action but it did not happen. He said that it seems that some people in the system do not want to sort it out. He added that nobody can deprive or ignore half of the population from getting their rights and this is the beauty of democracy.
