Now Sandeep Verma to head for Central deputation

Jaipur: One more senior IAS from Rajasthan is soon going to leave the state and head for New Delhi. 1993 batch IAS Sandeep Verma, currently serving as CMD of Rajasthan Roaways, will be heading to Delhi as the state government has issued a NOC to him. Sandeep will serve as Additional Secretary in the Union Government, although his wife — IAS Sreya Guha of 1993 batch - will continue to serve in Rajasthan.

Notably, last month the DoP gave NOC to head to Delhi to 1991 batch IAS Sudhansh Pant. Apart from Sudhansh and Sandeep, NOC to head to Delhi has been given to Ajeetabh Sharma, Praveen Gupta and Subeer Kumar too. In the current government, total 9 officiers have left Rajasthan and headed for Central deputation and serving as Secretary, Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary.

Now after receiving NOC, 5 more officers are waiting for a call from the union government. Such movement of officers out of Rajasthan is perhaps an all-time record.

Sandeep Verma is originally of AssamMeghalaya cadre and after marrying Sreya Guha, he came to Rajasthan in 1999.

From 2010 till 2015, Sandeep has been on central deputation and during that stint, he worked in Ministry of Defence and Planning Commission. Known to favour studies and ‘rule-book’, Sandeep has always courted controversies while serving on posts in Rajasthan.

In 2017, he was Principal Secretary PHED under BJP government but when the current government handed him the reins of PHED, he came in tussle with minister BD Kalla. So he was transferred to Revenue, HCM-RIPA and now Rajasthan Roadways.

Although Sandeep Verma has high ‘marks’ when it comes to capability and hard working ability but due to his working style, hehas always courted controversies.
