More than 9000 people shifted to safer locations

Barmer: Cyclone Biparjoy reached Rajasthan on Friday and caused heavy rainfall in Barmer since Thursday night. Issues like water filling in the low-lying areas while the trees and electricity poles were uprooted were reported.

Taking precautionary measures, the Barmer district administration has shifted more than 9000 people residing in low-lying areas to safe locations or at temporary shelters. Besides this, people who are living in raw houses have also been shifted to the safe location. They are being shifted to the government school buildings.

Around nine thousand people from Bakhasar, Sedwa Chauhtan, Ramsar, Dhorimna, and from other parts of the district adjacent to the Pakistan border have been sent to safe locations. During their stay, district administration will ensure arrangements for food and other requirements.
