Man returns from Pak, sent to police remand

Barmer: Gemara Ram, a resident of Rajasthan’s Barmer district, who returned to India from Pakistan last Tuesday, has now been sent to police custody for two days.

Barmer police had arrested Gemara Ram in a rape case and produced him before the court from where he was sent to police custody. Dharmendra Kumar Dukiya, circle officer at Chohtan confirmed the development. On the basis of a complaint, in January 2021, a case of rape was lodged against him at Bijrad police station in Barmer. He was booked under section 376 and POCSO Act. The case against Gemara Ram was lodged by his girlfriend’s father. After Gemara reached India, a team from Barmer police was sent to nab him. On Saturday Gemara Ram was taken to Barmer and produced before the additional district magistrate.

On November 2020, Gemara went to meet his girlfriend. During this, his girlfriend’s family saw him & seeing them, Gemara got scared and entered Indo-Pak border after that Pakistan Forces nabbed him and he was to jail in Pakistan’s Hyderabad.
