The main buzz of the second day of a three-day historic Udaipur Chintan Shivir has been a major speculation in CWC circles whether a normally ‘reluctant bride’ Rahul Gandhi has finally given his consent to take over the reins of the Grand Old Party from his towering mother and the Congress President Sonia Gandhi. According to highly placed sources, a formal resolution requesting Rahul to take over this ‘direct responsibility’ (which he has been avoiding so far) is likely to be placed before Sunday’s CWC meeting. Now all eyes are on Rahul’s mood and response!

Prior to this likely major development on Sunday, some background preparations and homework were done on Saturday by CM Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken, Dr. CP Joshi (in an aggressive manner), Dr. Raghu Sharma and a few others but Rahul did not react or respond at all to their demand. But a few close confidantes’ of Rahul’s, including Randeep Surjewala, are still confident that this time they will succeed in securing or extracting Rahul’s consent for this top job.

According to political observers, Gehlot’s ‘victory sign’, his body language and highly enthusiastic mood at the Media Centre also indicated that finally Rahul has accepted (at least in principle) to take over the charge and to pilot the party, for which he was continuously being persuaded by Gehlot, KC Venugopal, Maken and a few other senior leaders for the last three years.

Now, let us keep fingers crossed and see what finally comes out in CWC meeting!
