‘India’s growing population an opportunity & challenge’
Jodhpur: Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, during his two-day visit to Jodhpur on Saturday, said that India has become the country with the largest population in the world. “This is an opportunity and a challenge. In the coming days, about 20 percent of the world’s population will be in India,” he said while talking to journalists at the airport.
Singh said that there is only 4 percent land and 2.5% water and stressed that a law should be made on this. He said that the GoI India is setting new dimensions of development and textile ministry will leave no stone unturned for Rajasthan as after agriculture, the textile, handloom and handicraft sector provides maximum employment.
Singh interacted with the students of Indian Institute of Handloom Technology and suggested a portal. He also visited the IIHT Lab and interacted with the trainees. He also visited the Trade Facilitation Centre and observed and interacted with the handicraft artisans.
