IIT Jodh develops process for treating textile wastewater

Jodhpur: Researchers at the IIT Jodhpur have developed a two-stage process for treating wastewater from textile textiles back to its use. Both the techniques have several advantages such as separation of each process with reduced bottlenecks and removal of pollutants. degradation and no secondary pollution. With this unprecedented technology, colored waste water coming out of textile industries can be processed and after treatment this water can also be reused for various purposes.

Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur, Dr. Ankur Gupta along with his research scholars Gulshan Verma and Prince Kumar Rai and Prof. Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. Jan Gerrit Korwink and Dr. Monsur Islam have explored this process of twostage treatment of textile industry wastewater before discharging it into natural water bodies. The research findings have been published in the Journal of Materials Science and Engineering.
