I-T raids at 7 Jodh businessmen, Hawala transactions suspected

Jodhpur: Income tax department conducted raids on 25 premises belonging to 7 businessmen in Jodhpur on Thursday. The businessmen include one financer, 1 property dealer, 1 handicraft businessman, and 4 jewellers. I-T officials said that on the information of hawala trade, simultaneous raids were conducted in Jodhpur and Mumbai in morning. No further details were divulged.

The departmental officials refused to comment on the matter for the time being. One official says investigation has just begun, “The investigation process will take time to complete. Only then will the situation become clear whether these people have undisclosed income or not.”

According to income tax department officials, all of them are related to one finance. The team is also conducting a survey at this financier’s Pawta area in Jodhpur.
