HC suspends former MLA’s rape sentence, grants bail
Jodhpur: Former Makrana MLA Bhanwarlal Rajpurohit, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh by Makrana ADJ Court in a 20-year-old rape case, got relief from the High Court on Thursday. Justice Farzand Ali after hearing the case, approved Rajpurohit’s bail and suspended the sentence. Due to advocates’ strike, Rajpurohit’s son Dipendra Singh & son-in-law Madhusudan Singh Rajpurohit defended in the court saying that victim registered the case after seven months & matter was probed by higher police officers & a FR was filed. They termed the entire matter as politically motivated. The victim and her mother were also present during the hearing.
