HC quashes FIR against man who raped, impregnated minor

Jodhpur: In an important decision, Rajasthan HC has quashed an FIR registered for rape under POCSO Act. The case was registered against a 22-year-old man who had a relationship with a sixteenyear-old girl & because of this a child was born. HC said in its decision that the court is neither in favor of sexual relations with a minor nor does it allow anyone to do so, but it is a bitter truth that love does not take into account any legal or social rules. Uncontrollable emotions in relationship went so far that a child was born and one of the partners is a minor. Justice Dinesh Mehta said the wcourt cannot remain a mute spectator and if the case is proceeded further, the petitioner may be sentenced to ten years. This will have a direct impact on the family of both as well as on the child born after the love affair. In view of all these, the FIR lodged against the petitioner is quashed, he said. Minor girl delivered a baby boy in August this year, she said in statement.
