Guv urges modernisation of Ayurveda
Jodhpur: Governor Haribhau Bagade said that the ancient Indian knowledge of Ayurveda should be adapted to suit modern times, and efforts should be made to patent, certify, and widely disseminate health-promoting properties of its unique medicinal resources.
He urged for increased research and development in Ayurvedic medicines and called for efforts to test and promote their application in treating incurable diseases.
Bagade was speaking on Thursday at the international symposium on ‘Standardisation of Ayurvedic Medicines – Challenges and Solutions’ organised by the National Ayurveda University in Jodhpur. He said that the branding and packaging of Ayurvedic medicines should be designed to attract users, and effective marketing strategies should be implemented to enhance their appeal and reach. He said that India’s profound Ayurvedic knowledge was systematically taken abroad and modified to claim it as their own.
