Fashion tech should incorporate culture of diversity: Guv Mishra

Jodhpur: Governor Kalraj Mishra has called for developing such fashion techniques which are popular across the world, while incorporating the culture of diversity in the current era of globalisation.

“Today the fashion industry is growing rapidly all over the world and in such a situation it is necessary that through our knowledge and training, we will be able to adapt the curriculum related to fashion technology according to the global requirement,” he said while addressing the annual convocation ceremony of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Jodhpur on Friday. He awarded gold medals to 20 talents and graduate and postgraduate degrees to 188 students.

Mentioning the different dimensions of handicrafts and fashion in Rajasthan, the Governor asked the students of fashion technology to go to the remote areas of Rajasthan, see the living and spinning weaving traditions there and look at the cultural richness.

The Governor appreciated the important role played by the institute in the development of Jodhpur’s fashion industry, local industry, artisan craftsmen etc. and called upon the institute to become a leading center of textile design in the country, understanding the Indian public.
