Ex-MLA Suryakanta Vyas also known as ‘Jiji’ no more; Raj leaders pay tributes
Jodhpur: Former MLA from Jodhpur Suryakanta Vyas (86) who was popular by the name of Jiji passed away after prolonged illness on Wednesday morning. She was cremated at Siwanchi Gate crematorium in the evening. Her son Shiv Kumar Vyas lit the pyre. She contested assembly elections 7 times and won six times. She has been MLA thrice from Jodhpur assembly constituency and thrice from Sursagar assembly constituency. In the 2023 assembly elections, she was not given the ticket.
Governor Haribhau Bagade expressed his condolences and prayed to God to give peace to the departed soul.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, , erstwhile member of the royal family Gaj Singh, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP state president Madan Rathore, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, former CM Ashok Gehlot, Pali former MP Badriram Jakhar, and others expressed their condolences.
Raj Cabinet Minister Jogaram Patel, Rajya Sabha MP Rajendra Gehlot, MLA Devendra Joshi and Atul Bhansali attended the last rites in Jodhpur on Wednesday.
