Dr Vyas performs Bhoomi Pujan of Rawatbhata plant expansion

Rawatbhata: In view of the increasing demand for cobalt radiation sources in the world, India will double the capacity of the cobalt facility. Chairman of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission and renowned scientist Dr KN Vyas inaugurated the expansion project of Rawatbhata Cobalt Plant with a Bhoomi Pujan on Saturday. About Rs 100 crore will be spent on its expansion. A special water bridge will be built for the large cobalt rods to be installed in the 700 MW reactor. Four hotcells will be built.

On this occasion Dr Vyas said that the Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT) should strengthen its resources to meet the demand of radiation sources coming from the country and abroad. He said,
