Devnani expresses concern over less number of sittings
Mumbai: Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani expressed concern over less number of sittings of the House, saying that in order to hold the executive accountable and detailed discussions; there is a need to increase the sittings.
Devnani was addressing a session organised on the first day of the ongoing 84th Presiding Officers Conference at Maharashtra Assembly in Mumbai. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were also present in the conference.
Devnani said that committees of the House should not be formed on party lines but keeping in mind the qualifications, interest and special experience of the members.
He said that the committees of the Assembly are important in which various issues are discussed and a report is prepared. This report can give a new direction to the working system.
Devnani said that such programs should be organised in all the houses of the country to provide training to the new members. He also met Assembly Speakers of all the states including Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar. Devnani said that committees are being activated in Rajasthan Assembly. For this, a monitoring committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Assembly Speaker to monitor work of panels.
