Critical posts unfilled, DoP’s next move awaited

Jaipur: Some interesting and important facts from the IAS transfer list released on Friday are noteworthy. Their discussion is timely and necessary.

Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar has been removed from the position of Mission Director for Livelihood Projects and Self Help Groups, but no replacement has been appointed. While this mission, supported financially by the Centre, benefits millions of women across the state, the Rural Development Department is the nodal department for this mission. For a long time, the Secretary of Rural Development has been the Mission Director. In 2019, Rajeshwar Singh, as ACS, was also the Mission Director. It is believed that this responsibility may now be given to the current ACS, Sreya Guha, and the DoP will need to issue a formal order.

Ngikya Gohain had additional charge as MD of RAJSICO and his transfer to Bikaner has left this post vacant. The DoP has appointed Arushi Malik as the Chairman of RAJSICO, although in this corporation, the MD holds all the powers, and the Chairman is limited to board meetings only.

For the past 6 months, P. Ramesh, as Secretary of the Devasthan Department, has been involved with the Kumbh Mela, managing the accommodation, food, and transport for the people of Rajasthan. During this period, he made several visits to Prayagraj. However, now that the Mahakumbh is ongoing, the government has relieved P. Ramesh of the responsibility for the Devasthan Department, and DoP Secretary KK Pathak has been given the additional charge. Interestingly, Pathak himself recently performed the Kumbh Snan.

When Poonam was on deputation in her home state of Bihar for several years, she took on the responsibility of Divisional Commissioner there for a significant period. Based on this experience, she is expected to effectively carry out the responsibilities of DC in Jaipur.

Sharad Mehra, who was promoted from the Finance Department to IAS in 2021. However, within just 20 months of carrying out the field responsibilities as Collector in Deeg and Neem Ka Thana, the DoP has brought him back to the Finance Department and appointed him as JS, Finance.
