Crisis in Kota Municipal Corp as 7 Cong councillors along with Mayor join BJP

Kota: A legal crisis has arisen in Kota South Municipal Corporation which has put the department of local bodies (DLB) in a dilemma.

The Corporation had a Congress board with Rajeev Agrawal being the mayor. Agrawal along with 7 councilors has joined BJP. Now, in such a situation, the question is whether the board should be considered that of Congress or BJP.

Local officials raised their hands and sent the file to the headquarters for guidance. DLB is also looking for provisions for such a case, which has probably come for the first time.

Meanwhile, Corporation’s finance committee chairman and Congress Councilor Devesh Tiwari reached the Mayor's office today and demanded for resignation on moral grounds.

“Now that you (Rajeev Agrawal) are in BJP, show morality by following the ideals of Lord Shri Ram and resign as the mayor,” Tiwari said.
