Cops’ suspension: Panel formed to probe issue

Nagaur: After Nagaur SP Rammoorthy Joshi suspended the entire staff of Riyabadi police chowky for their connivance with sand mafia, a few more policemen have come on the radar due to their suspected involvement in facilitating sand mafia in illegal mining and transportation.

A high-level committee set up by the SP will investigate the entire matter. Four constables and one ASI were suspended by the SP after they were found allowing illegal transportation of sand in lieu of money.

There were regular complaints against the police chowky staff. After a probe, the SP took action against them. The accused policemen had fixed a rate list for facilitating illegal transportation. The committee will conduct an inquiry against ASI Ramchandra, constables Sukhram, Ramjilal, Mahipal and Sahi Ram.

In another order, the SP has shunted two policemen including one head constable of Padukalan police station in connection with serious allegations against them.
