CONGRESS NEEDS TO HOLD THE BULL BY THE HORNS!

New Delhi: In his presentation to the Congress party, election strategist Prashant Kishor had remained silent on the issue of presenting a leader or face from the opposition. His emphasis was on the fact that the opposition should create a narrative and keep that narrative running continuously. By doing this, even without a face, BJP and Narendra Modi can be challenged. This part of his advice is right that the opposition should create a narrative and keep it running, but after that the face will be formed automatically, this aspect doesnt seem to be right. Along with making the narrative, the opposition and especially the Congress will also have to present a face. That is why the Chintan Shivir of Udaipur is important, in which the Congress party declares Rahul Gandhi as the leader.

Anyway, whether Congress declares it or not, BJP has made Narendra Modi fight against Rahul Gandhi. That’s when in every poll or in every debate, Rahul is projected against Modi. Whenever there is a survey on the functioning of the Modi government or a survey of the popularity of leaders, only Rahul is kept in comparison to Modi. Propaganda is made by the BJP that as long as Rahul is there, Modi wont face any difficulty. In social media, jokes are circulated stressing Rahul to be the biggest asset for the BJP.

Right now BJP has chosen Rahul Gandhi knowing him to be a weak wrestler from Congress’ side. Now is the time for Congress to go ahead and challenge on its own behalf and announce the contest between Rahul and Modi. Remember how Narendra Modi fought and got his name stamped from BJP? Udaipur’s Chintan Shivir is a Goa moment for Congress and Rahul. Just as Narendra Modi became the President of BJP’s election campaign committee in 2013 Goa session despite opposition from LK Advani and other leaders of his camp and then became the prime ministerial candidate, so the Congress needs Rahul Gandhi to be the party president and declare him to be the prime ministerial candidate.

Rahul Gandhi keeps saying that he does not want power, but it will not help the Congress. It will be good for the Congress when they walk their side and challenge. The BJP has already made him a contender, so there is no problem in becoming a claimant from Congress’ side. If there is courage, commitment to its agenda, confidence in the strength of the organization, then Congress should announce Rahul as their leader in the party and contest election under him as the PM candidate. Modi had the courage to get his name announced, contest the election and is ruling today. Rahul and Congress also have to show the same courage.
