Communal tension grips Udaipur after student stabbed in school

Udaipur: The atmosphere in Udaipur turned tense after a Class 10 student of a government school in Bhatiyani Chauhatta here was allegedly attacked by his classmate with a knife. As protests began, an unruly mob vandalized and set fire at many places in the city. Incidents of stone pelting were also reported which caused damage to vehicles and Arwana Mall. Cars parked in the garage near Gumaniya Petrol Pump in Panchvati were set on fire. Amidst the deteriorating city atmosphere, Collector Arvind Poswal has imposed Section 144. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and has ordered strict action against those who disturb law and order. He said that the injured student is undergoing treatment and his condition is stable while the student who stabbed him has been detained.

After the stabbing incident , most of the private schools in Udaipur have declared a holiday. The decision was made as a precautionary measure by school management.
