CM ‘upbeat’ with completion of new works at Barkatullah Khan Stadium

Jodhpur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the renovated Barkatullah Khan Stadium on Sunday. On observing the changed picture of the stadium, Chief Minister Gehlot was visibly happy. After the inauguration ceremony an MoU was also signed between Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and Jodhpur Development Authority in the presence of CM Gehlot. During the function, District Cricket Association’s ad-hoc committee convenor Shaitan Singh Sankhla welcomed the CM. Gehlot reached Barkatullah Khan Stadium during his stay in Jodhpur and paid floral tributes at the statue of former CM Late Barkatullah Khan. Later, Gehlot also dedicated the renovation works of Barkatullah Khan Stadium. Gehlot, along with inaugurating the renovation work, unveiled the Patta.

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Dr. C.P. Joshi, PCC President Govind Singh Dotasra, RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot and Sports Council President Krishna Poonia and MLA Sanyam Lodha accompanied CM during this. Gehlot also reviewed the Barkatullah Khan Stadium renovation work in detail and also took information about new works from concerned officials. Addressing the function, Gehlot said that it was a pleasure that the new works at the stadium, that is in the name of former CM Barkatullah Khan, has been inaugurated. “From the beginning till now, the govt was dedicated to the Barkatullah Stadium. Field light was installed at the time of JDA President Rajendra Solanki. JDA and RCA have now signed MoU on the lines of Jaipur stadium,” he said. Referring to cricketers Ravi Vishnoi Gehlot said that there is no dearth of talent in Rajasthan. “Whatever resolution CP Joshi or Vaibhav Gehlot brings to the govt after passing it in the RCA, the govt has been acting on them and taking decisions in the interest of the players.” Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games, he said that it is a big challenge to feed 30 lakh players with the help of the administration. “I myself have gone to every level and watched the game. Urban Olympics will also be held in November and Decemeber,” CM Gehlot said. The CM mentioned the budget presented separately for the farmers and electricity bills of the farmers was waived off. CM Gehlot also spoke about the ERCP scheme and said that it has not been declared as a national project yet. While all 25 MPs from Rajasthan are of BJP, he said.
