CM: CENTRE HAS PULLED ITSELF OFF FROM SHEKHAWAT’S DEMAND

Jodhpur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who arrived in Jodhpur on Friday, took a jibe at Union Jal Shakti Minister GS Shekhawat for the proposed Fintech University in the city and the third phase of the lift canal. He said that the Centre pulled out from both the schemes. At the inauguration and foundation stone of development works at Government College in Jodhpur, Gehlot said, “I have been requesting PM Modi time and again. 21st century is the age of IT. Fintech (digital) university is being built at a cost of Rs 600 crore, which would be a great gift. The Centre didn’t cooperate in this, while this demand was made by the MP & Union Jal Shakti Minister GS Shekhawat. Now it is being built only with state funding. The Indian government did nothing. If we are investing Rs 600 cr, then the Centre should give only 200 crore, because the MP had recommended. NK Singh, chairman of Finance Commission, helped a lot for this. Now, the MP has stopped speaking.” The CM said that after Centre pulled back its hand, State Government has decided to open this University with its own money. “A similar fate happened with 3rd stage of lift canal. The project will cost Rs 1,400 crore, which is being borne by State Government.”
