Chhaparwada dam to irrigate 12k hectares
Dudu: After 29 years, Chhaparwada dam will provide water for irrigation purposes. Two main canals of the dam in Dudu district were opened on Thursday.
Farmers will get irrigation water in 12,000 hectares of land. The canals of the dam were opened after 1995. A total of 52 villages in Mauzmabad, Fagi and Dudu tehsils will get irrigation water.
The Chhaparwada dam, currently, has 1100 MCFT water and can be provided irrigation water for about 50 days.
Chhaparwada Dam is the only dam in the district which has the capacity to irrigate the lands of farmers of about 250 villages. With 17 feet of water available, farmers will get plenty of water. A delegation of farmers had met regarding releasing water from dam.
According to the demand of the farmers, a meeting of the Water Distribution Committee will be organized soon next week by the District Administration, water will be released from the canals in the first week of December, said Misa Ram Chaudhary, Asst Engineer Water Resources Department Dudu.
