CBI launches probe into illegal sand mining in Bundi

Bundi: The CBI on Saturday started an investigation in Bundi regarding illegal sand mining and transportation and conducted questioning at two places.

Expressing displeasure over the police and mines department not taking action in the case related to illegal sand mining and transportation, the High Court ordered CBI to conduct investigation following which the CBI team reached Talab village of Hindoli and at two other places.

The court has directed the state to hand over the investigation of a sand mining case registered in Sadar police station of Bundi to the CBI. Instructions have also been given to investigate other cases regarding illegal mining and land mafia.

The directions were given by the court while hearing the bail petition of the accused Jabbar. The court said that the state government runs a campaign against the sand mafia, but no action is taken.
