Blast at Udpr-Ahmd rly bridge inaugurated by PM, NIA starts probe

Udaipur: Unidentified people attempted to blast a bridge on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad railway line, which was inaugurated 13 days ago by PM Modi. The incident happened on Saturday night. The conspiracy was to blow up the bridge and destroy the railway track, said source. Explosives were also found on the spot. The blast caused cracks on the tracks. The ATS of the Rajasthan Police reached the spot to probe the terrorist angle in conspiracy.

Following the explosion occurred on a railway track at Odha bridge near Kewade Ki Naal, on Sunday, the police said they were investigating all angles, including sabotage. Incident occurred hours before the recently inaugurated AsarwaUdaipur Express train from Ahmedabad was supposed to pass. CM Gehlot has also instructed Director General of Police Umesh Mishra for a detailed investigation. The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police reached the spot. The ATS was probing the terrorist angle in the conspiracy. Udaipur Superintendent of Police Vikas Sharma said that initially it seemed that the blast was done after thorough planning. The detonator belongs to the Super 90 category. Bomb squad and forensic teams reached the spot and collected evidence. Following the explosion, the train was halted at the Dungarpur station, a railway spokesperson said. DGP Umesh Mishra said that efforts are being made to identify and arrest those responsible. “Necessary action is being taken in coordination with railway officials,” he added.
