BJP trying to retain its hold for 3rd consecutive term, Cong eyeing return to its old stronghold

Dausa: The political mercury in Lok Sabha elections on the Dausa seat, which is considered to be the stronghold of Meena and Gurjar politics, has gradually started gaining momentum.

Any star campaigner has yet to hold an election rally, but the candidates and local leaders are doing a good job of wooing the voters. This time, a total of five candidates are in the fray for this seat. The main contest is between Congress and BJP, although BSP and two independent candidates are also trying their luck this time. Naresh Meena had surprised everyone by becoming a Congress rebel by filing a nomination as an independent from here, but later he withdrew his papers. To regain control of its old stronghold, Congress has fielded former minister and current Dausa MLA Murari Lal Meena as its candidate. This time, the BJP has used a different strategy to retain its hold on this seat for the third consecutive time. The BJP has fielded Kanhaiyalal Meena, a four-time MLA from Bassi and Minister of State in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat government.

Even in the BJP wave, Murari Lal Meena had established his status in the Congress party by winning the Dausa Assembly seat by about 31,000 votes. That too at a time when two ministers also had to face defeat in the other four seats of the district. The Congress has started hoping for a victory by making Murari Lal, who is considered very close to Sachin Pilot, a Lok Sabha candidate.

In the last LS polls also, Murari Lal’s wife Savita Meena was fielded by the Congress, but BJP’s Jaskaur Meena defeated her by 70,000 votes.

BJP candidate Kanhaiyalal, however, was currently away from active politics. Still, there were many reasons for him getting the ticket. Sitting MP Jaskaur Meena withdrew from the poll field when she turned 77, but she kept trying her best to make her daughter Archana Meena a candidate. Political experts say that Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena also wanted to make his former RAS brother Jagmohan a candidate from Dausa Lok Sabha. The mutual tussle between Jaskaur and Kirodi opened the doors for former Bassi MLA Kanhaiyalal. Of course, Kanhaiyalal had no interference in the politics of Dausa district, but he has been active in every activity of the party. The voters will undoubtedly decide the victory or defeat of Kanhaiyalal, who is simple and gentle and away from factionalism, but his unwavering image gives him strength. Additionally, the BSP has made Saunu Dhanka its candidate, who is not a well-known face in politics, but still, BSP has gambled on him based on its vote bank.
