Biting cold engulfs Rajasthan, orange alert issued

Dense fog and cold wave conditions have gripped Rajasthan, with Churu recording the coldest temperature in the desert State, registering minus 0.9°C, the season's lowest temperature, over the plains. Meanwhile, dense fog enveloped Jaipur, due to which visibility dropped to less than 50 metres in the Pink City, Alwar, Dausa, Bharatpur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Jhunjhunu.

The MeT Centre department has forecasted dense fog over the region till January 4, while the possibility of a strong cold wave looms over the area till January 6.

The Meteorological Centre Jaipur has issued an orange alert for the districts of Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions while warning of severe cold for the next three days. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar districts till January 5, while a yellow alert has been issued for Ganganagar, Bikaner, Nagaur, Jaipur, Alwar, Dausa, Karauli, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Bundi districts.
