BHAJPA KA ‘RAJ’!
Jaipur/New Delhi: BJP on Sunday swept the ‘Hindi heartland’ with spectacular electoral show in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The Congress, that put up a dismal performance in all these 3, denied K Chandrashekar Rao a hat-trick by wresting power from BRS in Telangana. Soon after the final results, PM Narendra Modi addressed party workers at BJP HQ in Delhi on Sunday and thanked the people for their “unwavering support” in 3 of 4 states.
In Rajasthan, the BJP sailed smoothly to the power corridors with 115 out of 19 seats in its bag. The ruling Congress was reduced to 69 seats from 107. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat took a dig at CM Gehlot, saying, “The ‘magic’ has ended and Rajasthan has come out of the spell of the magician. People have voted for the honour of women and for the welfare of the poor,” he said. Total 36 counting centres were set up in 199 assembly constituencies.
