Barmer police arrests notorious drug smuggler with Rs 50k bounty

Barmer: Barmer police arrested a drug smuggler carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. Police got a tip-off that the accused lived at the house of his associate Tulsiram Menaria in the Chittorgarh Nimbahera Sadar area. On Friday night, they caught the accused while he was sleeping.

The accused had earlier gone to jail in 2019. He was released on parole in 2020 and again got into smuggling. The SUV used in smuggling has also been seized. Menaria, who gave shelter to the accused, fled the spot.

Thakuraram smuggled drugs, including poppy husk on a large scale in about a dozen districts, including Barmer and Balotra for the last four years.
