Jodhpur: Arts are that precious wealth which brings joy to life, Rajasthan governor Kalraj Mishra said. He was speaking at Maharaja Hanwant Singh Marwar Sangeet Ratna award ceremony in Jodhpur organised by Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Swar Sudha, Jodhpur at Rajmata Krishnakumari Girls Public School in Jodhpur.
The function was presided over by former chairman of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, Gaj Singh. Remembering Maharaja Hanwant Singh , Mishra said that his contribution towards strengthening democracy was remarkable.
He said that it was during his reign that the revolutionary and progressive work of introducing Marwari Tenancy and Land Revenue Act was done.
The Governor also recalled Hanwant Singh’s love for music, land revenue, faith and contribution towards democracy & inclination for polo matches.
Mishra honoured Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia with a shawl and a cheque of one lakh rupees. The Governor congratulated worldrenowned flute player Chaurasia on being awarded the Maharaja Hanwant Singh Marwar Sangeet Ratna Award.
