After Afghanistan, polio cases in Pakistan create stir; Jaisalmer on alert
Jaisalmer: Polio cases have been found in Pakistan in recent days as a result of which the administration has sounded alert in Jaisalmer. Polio drops will be administered to 1 lakh 31 thousand children from June 30 and a decision has been taken to start a mega campaign to administer polio drops in Jaisalmer. The WHO has issued an alert in the border areas adjoining Rajasthan.
On Wednesday, district collector Pratap Singh held a meeting and gave instructions to administer polio drops to children aged 0 to 5 years for three days in the district so that the border areas of Jaisalmer are not affected by this disease that came from Pakistan.
4-4 polio cases have been reported in Afghanistan and Pakistan since the beginning of the year 2024 and the district collector has prepared a micro plan and given instructions to monitor all the areas, especially the border areas, slums and other high risk areas with diligence.
