ACB arrests Nagaur cop with Rs 10,000 bribe

Nagaur: The ACB Sikar unit arrested Ram Niwas, constable of Maroth police station, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. According to the information, a complaint was given to the Sikar unit of the complainant that he was being harassed by constable by demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in lieu of taking out the names of the family members in the fraud case registered against his brother.

The complaint was verified by DSP Rajesh Jangid, and a trap was laid by a team led by Police Inspector Suresh Chand in which Constable Ram Niwas was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

The accused constable had taken Rs 20,000 before the complaint and Rs 5,000 during verification of the complaint. The role of the Investigating Officer and others in the case is also being probed in detail. Advance investigation is being done by the ACB in the matter by registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
