A lawyer set himself on fire in SDM office, dies

Sikar: A lawyer Hansraj Mavliya died after he reportedly consumed poison and set himself on fire by pouring petrol outside the Khandela SDM office on Thursday. Later, he also entered the SDM room and tried to burn the officer who also sustained burn injuries. He was referred to Jaipur in critical condition where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

A half empty bottle of poison was also found from his bag.

An incident of a lawyer Hansraj Mavliya from Sikar consuming poison and setting him on fire has gone viral on social media. Hansraj Mavliya was heard alleging corruption. After extinguishing the fire, people took him to the government hospital from where he was referred to Jaipur.

The reason for the suicide is not yet clear. The police reached the information and started the investigation of the matter. He first kept waiting when SDM Rakesh Kumar was out in connection with public hearing.

As soon as the SDM reached the office, after entering the office, he poured petrol on himself and reached the SDM room by setting himself on fire and tried to catch the SDM who suffered burn injuries on hands.

Angry advocates protested in front of the SDM office demanding a fair investigation into allegations made by Hanraj against SDM and an SHO.

The suicide note found from his bag was handed over to the police in which he reportedly made serious allegations against SHO Ghasi Ram.
