3 doctors suspended in Jhunjhunu for declaring alive man "Dead"

Jhunjhunu: Three doctors who declared a living person dead and sent him to the mortuary and crematorium have been suspended by the District Collector.

The incident took place at Jhunjhunu's largest government hospital, Bhagwan Das Khetan (BDK). On Thursday afternoon, a mute and deaf man was brought in for treatment but was declared dead within minutes by the doctors.
The man was kept in the deep freezer of the mortuary for two hours. At around 5 PM, as his last rites were being performed, his body began to move, and he started breathing. Witnesses were shocked, and the man was immediately taken back to the hospital and later shifted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

The man, identified as Rohitash (25), lived in an orphanage run by Maa Seva Sansthan in Bagad, Jhunjhunu. He was admitted to the emergency ward of BDK Hospital on Thursday afternoon after his health deteriorated. The doctors at BDK declared him dead at 2 PM.

Afterward, his body was placed in the mortuary, and police were called for formalities. The body was then taken to the crematorium via ambulance. However, as his body was placed on the pyre, his breathing resumed, and his body showed movement.

Questions have arisen about whether a postmortem was conducted at the hospital. If so, how did the man come back to life? If not, how was a report prepared? A postmortem report was created by medical jurist Dr. Navneet at BDK Hospital, stating the cause of death as lung failure due to COPD or tuberculosis. The report, signed by Dr. Navneet, included his seal.

Identified Negligent Doctors as Dr. Yogesh Kumar Jakhar, He was the first doctor to examine the patient and declared him dead. Currently on deputation at BDK Hospital, his original posting is at the Mandrela Community Health Center. Dr. Navneet Meel, who Created the postmortem report, allegedly for a living patient. He works at BDK Hospital. Dr. Sandeep Panchar, The PMO (Principal Medical Officer) of BDK Hospital, a dermatologist. He was accused of withholding information about the incident from senior authorities. District Collector Ramavatar Meena formed a committee to investigate the case. A report was sought from the PMO, and the Secretary of the Medical Department was informed.

Based on the findings, Dr. Yogesh Jakhar, Dr. Navneet Meel, and PMO Dr. Sandeep Panchar were suspended late at night.

During their suspension, Dr. Sandeep Panchar’s headquarters will be at Jaisalmer CMHO, Dr. Yogesh Jakhar’s at Barmer CMHO, and Dr. Navneet Meel’s at Jalore CHO.
