3 die, 7 injured as wall of coconut shop collapses

Udaipur: Three people including two customers died and seven were injured when the wall of a coconut shop collapsed on Wednesday evening in Udaipur.

The SDRF team was called to the spot for rescue. The accident happened in shop number 10 of Krishi Mandi. Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured were announced from the CMRF.

CM Ashok Gehlot, who returned from Jaipur to Udaipur on Wednesday, reached MB Hospital from airport and met injured people. Mukul Wasnik and Randeep Surjewala also accompanied Gehlot. Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Bhatt and Collector Tarachand Meena were also present.

When accident happened shop owner Vinay Kant was sitting with staff, customers and laborers. Construction work was going on in next shop, the foundation was being dug. Suddenly wall fell and roof of shop collapsed. 2 customers, Nilesh Menaria (33), Bhavesh Tamboli (28) & accountant Jaipal Singh (24) died.
