Premiere of film "Kookie" held in Mumbai
Mumbai: The premiere of producer Junmoni Devi Khaund's film Kookie, based on the sensitive subject of rape, was held at PVR in Juhu. On this occasion, Devolina Bhattacharya, lead actress Ritisha Khaund, Asha Chotani, director Pranab J. Deka, producer Dr. Junmoni Devi Khaund, sound designer Amrit Pritam, music composer Tapan Jyoti Dutta, lyricist Dr. Sagar, singer Kritika Sharma, comedian Sunil Pal and distributor Manoj Nandwana were also present. The producer of the film is from Assam. Therefore, at the beginning of the premiere, cultural music of Assam was presented by local artists of Assam.
Producer Dr. Junmoni Devi Khaund while talking to media here said that "Minor rape is a sensational news for media houses, but no one realizes what the victim's body and mind go through. I am also an advocate, so I wrote its concept and story. I am from Assam, a similar incident happened in Manipur and such incidents are happening all over the country. The victim has the right to live life with dignity. First of all, I thought of making this story in Assamese language, but when we discussed with director Pranab, we thought that it should be made in Hindi, Hindi is our national language, most Indians understand and speak Hindi and this issue is national. The actors were selected according to the story and character. All the artists have given their hundred percent. This film was also screened in the Film Market (Marche du Film) under the Cannes Film Festival and was also appreciated.
The film made under the banner of Niri Media OPC Private Limited focuses on the subject of human emotions. Avinash Chauhan, Ibson Lal Barua and Dr. Sagar have written the lyrics, music composed by Pallab Talukdar, Sourav Mahanta and Tapan Jyoti Dutta adds more depth to the story. Sunidhi Chauhan, Divya Kumar, Mohammad Faiz and Kritika Sharma are the singers. The film is distributed by Jai Viratra Entertainment Limited.
