How To Switch On The Resource Of Confidence In You In Just 3 Steps

We are all born with a loud, confident screaming voice making sure that we get what we want but today we suffer from low confidence, anxiety, self-doubts and lot of fears. You were born confident but have now lost this amazing resource without knowing how, when and why; you can only figure this out if you know that how mind works and how does it gets programmed.

Mind is the most sophisticated gadget or tool on the planet and most of us, missed the brain manual. It is like driving a car and you don’t know how to drive it. How will your journey be? Your journey will be full of fears, full of jerks and definitely some accidents as well. And the worst part of all this is that even after meeting so many accidents, this sophisticated gadget called mind has not undergone any repair work and has not gone any software upgrade. You are operating in 21st century, where technology outdates itself every six months, with a mind programming which was done when you were under the age of 8 years. Confidence is still in you, you have forgotten the button to switch it on.

Confidence is just a belief, ‘I can or I cannot!.’ Mind judges the level of this belief at three levels to reach to a conclusion. First level is Possibility. Whatever one wants to achieve or act upon, mind checks whether someone has done it or not. You cannot seek out confidence & jump out of a window to fly. Then second parameter is Ability. Mind asks whether I will be able to do it? Give yourself a reminder that abilities are acquired by learning and practice. Every master was once a disaster. Every expert started from somewhere and faced failures but mostly people lack the third parameter i.e. Worth.

Your mind does not consider that act worthy enough. Why do I really have to stand on stage and speak up? Why do I really have to drive the car? Why do I really have to socialise? If I tell you that you will be getting one million cash if you face your fears of public speaking, cooking, driving etc. for just 10 minutes tomorrow, you would definitely want to do it. The resourceful section of your mind will open up to give you the ideas about practising in mirror or creating script and what not. In the language of NLP, it is called resourceful state of mind i.e. one uses full potential of mind. You yourself will generate methods to acquire that ability. So always remember PAW-possibility, ability & worth and see which one you need to work upon.

Confidence is as simple as a mere comfort to do a particular task but people declare confidence as some non-achievable super-duper difficult trait. We are all born with this trait but we self-hypnotised ourselves into this belief that we cannot. We were born fearless, we didn’t fear wire or fire. Let’s break three mental patterns of Deletion, Distortion and Generalisation to tap into the resource of confidence:

The Mindful Awakening

Why do you say that you have low confidence? It is merely because of one or two skills that you need to work upon. List down those two things. Just because of these two things you have concluded that you are someone who lacks confident. It’s not reality but just a conclusion. The moment you write these two down, your magnified view of impossibility shatters and starts converting into possibility. That’s the first level- Possibility.

Now you will write down 10 things that you do comfortably of a similar trait. For example, you feel less confident while talking on stage but you must be comfortable talking to your family members, juniors, house help, shopkeepers etc. Another example could be that you are not confident driving a car but you must be comfortable driving a two-wheeler or cycle or walking on the road. Your mind recognises that you already have some ability of similar kind; you aren’t zero. That’s awakening Ability, the second level!

Treasure Hunting

Your mind has so many treasures stored but you always happen to open boxes of fears. Your mind is a google search engine and it shows you as per the keyword you put in. Now, ask for the time, when you thought you will never be able to do something but today you are doing that task comfortably like driving, cooking etc. What you thought that it is impossible to achieve this skill but today it is just the next normal for you. Even cycle riding, giving those exams, first time interview seemed invariably difficult but today you do all of it with ease. Connect to five such examples and you would see a current rushing into your body what you call motivation or enthusiasm to take an action or face the situation.

Channelling the Energy

You just switched on the button of confidence which was created and achieved by you only but you had deleted it under the mind pattern deletion. You had generalised the lack of confidence int two areas of life to all the areas of life. Now you can channel this energy by reprogramming your mind with affirmations “ If I have done this, I can do anything in life” ;” If I have learnt this skill , I can learn anything in life”; ‘If I have faced that fear and won it, I can face anything in life.”

This switch need to be turned on whenever you require it. Fears can be rational and irrational. Rational fears are fears of unsafe heights, depth of water, fire etc which can actually harm you physically. Irrational fears are your imaginations; “What if” fears. 90% of fears never turn into reality and humans suffer imagination rather than reality. Face them by getting into resourceful state of mind using treasure hunting and win over them as now you know that you have the resource of confidence in you and also know how to switch it on.
