CM Shinde issues orders for beautification of Mumbai

Mumbai: In a bid to transform the city of Mumbai, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has issued instructions to officials and asked them to fasttrack beautification projects. On Wednesday, a review meeting on the matter was held under the chairmanship of CM Shinde at the state guest house “Sahyadri” in Mumbai. According to the CM, beautification work of Mumbai has picked up pace in the last four months and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and him have inaugurated 187 works. Various projects will be tackled by the state and city authorities for Mumbai’s transformation. They include concretization of roads, transforming Koliwada (locality where members of Koli Rajput community reside), and improving facilities at state-run hospitals. After completion of all these works, Mumbai will not only be the pride of India, but the whole world. It is a matter of pride for the state and Mumbai that the city is being transformed and branded strongly, said the chief minister. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, Shinde vowed to appoint 5,000 sanitation workers to maintain the beauty of Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also was present at the review meeting, stressed on cleaning of roads, beaches and public toilets. “The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) should identify necessary machinery and equipment to meet the sanitation needs of the city,” he said. Fadnavis also batted for implementation of community washing machines in slum areas.
