Vihaan: None of us expected Mismatched to do so well
Teenage coming-of-age stories are some of the most loved genres among viewers. And when the series is something that has a diverse cast, tells stories that everyone can relate to and has some cutesy moments, then it definitely is a super hit. Well, Mismatched ticked all boxes off and did win several hearts. Especially Vihaan Samat, who played the salty yet sweet character of Harsh Agarwal. Sitting down with City First, the actor opened up about Season 2, working in Hollywood, future plans and more. Sharing his excitement for the second season, Vihaan said, “I am very excited for S2! I think none of us expected Mismatched to do as well as it did. We were just making this very fun show where people could sit back and enjoy and have this breezy watch. But it has evolved into something else. People really loved it. There were fan pages and so much buzz. It quickly catapulted into other things. I just hope S2 can live up to that hype.”
The actor revealed what people can expect in the new season: "Expect new relationships, new friendships and new alliances. Expect more drama and a lot more awkward situations. With S2, our production value has increased considerably. So, the whole sets and designs have become more extensive. And with Harsh, you can expect him to get less of a playboy and more of a friend.” Vihaan further revealed how he had to start again in India after doing a film with Michael Keaton in the US. Grateful for finding Mismatched within a year, he stated that after starring in Eternally Confused and Eager for Love, things became smoother.
Opening up about transforming into the main lead from a supp o r t i n g character through Eternally Confused, Vihaan stated, “It was a 180° turn for me as I was doing nothing during the lockdown. No social media, no auditions, nothing. That being said, with every job you do, you learn more and more. With Mismatched I carried so much information which I took to Eternally. The only difference was I had to work more hours compared to Mismatched.” As someone who has worked in Hollywood and the Indian entertainment industry, the actor feels that the similarity between both is that at the end of the day, the work is what matters. However, he believes that the well-made structure of how filming, right from its auditioning is prominent in the US rather than in India. “There are other technical differences as well, but it is because the US is an older country than India. It had a lot more time to structure its entertainment industry while we are on our way to make that intermittent structure,” he said. Revealing that he has a lot more fun projects coming up next, Vihaan signed off with a warm goodbye, keeping the hopes of a brighter future high.
