VASTRA: A MEGA FASHION SHOW

Vastra, the North East Handicraft Mega Fashion Show, which took place on Saturday at New Moti Bagh Club in New Delhi, by North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT) showcased exclusive North East Tribal Textiles, handicrafts and Axomiya Paat Xoon by top-line designers from the North East Region of the country. It was supported by the Development Commissioner(Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

It was inaugurated by UP Singh, Secretary, Union Ministry of Textiles and Shantmanu, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). Vikram Rai Medhi, the show director and CEO of NEIFT, said, “Such events bring people of North East and Delhi closer by opening new doors of opportunities and marketing linkages for them.”

Designer Priyanka D Patwari from Assam, Robert Naorem from Manipur and Gona Niji from Arunachal Pradesh presented their collections rich in exotic Tribal Textiles and 30 models walked the ramp. This festival was a curtain-raiser to showcase the talents of designers, performing artists, artisans, craftsmen, weavers and models from the different parts of the North East Region.
