SAGAS OF THE UNSUNG

The inauguration of Juneja Art gallery’s One hundred and thirtyninth show ‘Exploring the Sagas of the unsung’,was held on Sunday, in Jaipur.

Jagdeesh Chandra was the chief guest on the occasion. Seventy-five artworks by the renowned artist Gaurishankar Soni are scheduled to display until January 20 during this event in a solo show.

Gaurishankar Soni’s work, which is rooted in the artist’s childhood, displays some unique dimensions of time, memory, and the ancient Rajasthani way of life.

Rajasthan’s rich cultural legacy has always captivated and amazed the artist. His paintings are resonant with Rajasthani customs, holidays, and day-to-day events, as they are typically teeming with little characters in dhoti and angarkha, revelling in folk music or other activities against a setting drenched in vibrant colours.

Soni’s painting attempts to depict their tenacity, optimism, worries, and pleasures while providing them with a more meaningful societal standing through his own effortlessly flowing storylines.

The paintings are a delight for the eyes as well as for our contemplative capabilities. The way he contained the miniature Lilliputian characters in time is remarkable, and there is a tinge of humour in the way he did it.

The guest of honour of the event was Pragya Shukla, poet and art critic.
